Abstract：
 An active headrest mechanism used to protect the neck when a tail gating accident happens relates to a structural design of a headrest part in a seat system. The mechanism comprises a control model, a driving motor and a connecting rod driving mechanism. The control model is connected with the driving motor by a signal line and the connecting rod driving mechanism contains a parallelly arranged upper cross connecting rod mechanism, a lower cross connecting rod mechanism and a driving lead screw connected with the motor. The invention is combined with an active safety system and adjusts the distance between the headrest and the head of the passenger in the car, according to the judgment of the active safety system on the danger caused by the collision, to avoid and reduce the damage on the neck of the passenger in the car when the tail gating accident happens.
