Abstract:
In the instrument, radioactive source and collimator are setup at slide groove of rotating target stage; gold foil target is setup at center of circle of the rotating target stage; semiconductor detector and collimator are placed in front of preamplifier; center line of semiconductor detector and collimator is coincided with center line of radioactive source and collimator. The control system includes: preamplifier for magnifying signal from detector, bias supply providing bias voltage for detector, linear amplifier for magnifying and shaping up output signal of preamplifier, and counter for counting signal from the linear amplifier. Step motor is adopted in the invention to control rotation of scatter target so that detecting angle can be changed without destroying vacuum, and experimental period is shortened. Thus, students welcome Rutherford scatter experiment.
